Our '02 K12RS performed flawlessly up Mt Evans last year. The K75s wouldn't idle without the choke on back in '96, but no perceptible power loss or idle problems on the RS. LT should be very similar. My wife, Susan, took this on our way up. The angle isn't a trick!

As to all the Altitude Sickness info, it can strike anyone reguardless of physical condition. (Condition helps, but not a guarantee.) Don't let it stop you, but if you get sick up high it is imperative that you decend to a lower elevation. You will not get better until you do, and you could die. (don't worry, though. Takes a few days.)
