XM Update

Well, now that I have installed a new battery and have put some miles on the bike, all is working fine. The bike starts and there is no battery drain from the XM system. The only reason I suspected this was because it occurred after the installation. This was only a suspicion. I want to thank all who responded and offered advice. That's what is great about this forum. I would also like to let yall know that BMR (Ted and Pete) was responsive to my dilemma. They emailed me with different procedures to check if it was the system. They also assured me that they would do everything possible to make sure that I was satisfied.

I have read the other posts on the XM and I believe that the company should be given an opportunity to answer the complaints, provided that it has something to do with what can be answerable by the company, ie. BMR as the installer; Delphi as the manufactor. But I also agree with Taller that posting his experiences with this system as all the others have is the proper thing to do. This only helps others as to what may happen.

As some have experienced, I also receive intermittent service. I do believe that it is due to the antenna position. I like the XM system and I had it professionally installed in my car. They place the antenna on the roof where it's unobstructed and I get clear reception. I would like to change the position of the antenna to the co-pilot mount, where most have better reception.

I have ridden through all types of road and have not had any problems with the unit bouncing out of its cradle. But because of reports of others bouncing out, I will attach a rubberband to hold it, just in case. Remember, this system was designed for auto and home use. It's that system that is being adopted for motorcycle use...not really tested for all the vibrations associated with our passion. All in all, I like the extra option.
