Jackson Lake Lodge and Coulter Bay lodging info

Here is the breakdown of the lodging arrangements for Curve Cowboy Reunion 2005

We are confident that the setting of next years reunion will provide us with the opportunity to create a most memorable event. Between the Jackson Lake Lodge and Coulter Bay we will have the broadest spectrum of lodging opportunities ever available to our reunion attendees. There will be ample camping, RV parking and cabins available at Coulter Bay Village or the nicely appointed rooms in Jackson Lake Lodge While the Lodge will be the center of activity; Coulter Bay is just a few minutes away for those of you who would like who would enjoy a more rustic environment.

The lowest priced rooms at Jackson Lake Lodge are in the main lodge building at $135 per night. Rooms in the cottages are $165 per night or $175 per night with a patio. There are a few patio rooms with a view of the Tetons, which will run $235 per night. Additionally there are five suites in the main lodge building.

Coulter bay offers a broad range of options ranging from $73 to $135 per night for cabins or a variety of camping and RV options. You will need to contact them for all of the options.

Since we are having our reunion in a United States National Park all of the rates are set by the park service. Unlike years past the hotel had far less latitude in setting the rates for our reunion. We were able to get rates slightly lower than this years locked in for next year. Next years rates will not actually be set until they begin accepting reservations after the first of next year. While these rates represent a step up from our previous reunions we felt that the setting inside of one of our finest national parks was worth a little extra.

All attendees of our 2004 reunion in Breckenridge will be given a special opportunity for advance registration, as has been our practice after prior reunions. We will open for general registration on or about January 1, 2005.

All reservations at the host hotel will require your CCR registration number. Until you receive that number you will not be able to make a reservation within our room blocks. The host hotel will accept your reservations as soon as you receive the CCR confirmation number.

Randy-
Thanks for the links - that picture of Jackson Lake Lodge is breathtaking! Can't hardly wait. Regarding Coulter Bay - is it within walking distance (or crawling distance, depending ) from Jackson Lake Lodge?

It would be a long walk - I think around 5 miles.

Randy-- per your post, you noted "We were able to get rates slightly lower than this years locked in for next year. Next years rates will not actually be set until they begin accepting reservations after the first of next year. While these rates represent a step up from our previous reunions we felt that the setting inside of one of our finest national parks was worth a little extra. "

Does this mean the prices you quoted in your post above will actually be lower at the lodge, cottages, etc. after the first of the year -- when the hotel begins to take reservations? I read this to say that the rates at Jackson Lake will be "slightly lower than this year's at Breck". Please clarify. Thanks.

The rates I stated in the post:
"The lowest priced rooms at Jackson Lake Lodge are in the main lodge building at $135 per night. Rooms in the cottages are $165 per night or $175 per night with a patio. There are a few patio rooms with a view of the Tetons, which will run $235 per night. Additionally there are five suites in the main lodge building.

are the actual contracted rates for the reunion next year. It is probable that their rack rate next year will be higher than they were this year, but those rates have not been set at this time. Our rates will be at the above contracted amounts regardless of where the National Park Service sets them for 2005.

Thanks. That's what I understood, but wanted to make sure better rates weren't in the works.

Re: Jackson Lake Lodge and Coulter Bay lodging info

From my expierience I think you'll find the rates In Jackson, the closest hotel/motel, to be significantly more in most cases. You'd better get them soon. Last year I had to book a room at a B&B in Pinedale, 40 miles south of Jackson. It still cost me $110 a night but better than the $240 I was quoted at the Best Western in Jackson. The prices Randy is quoting sound great to me, all things considered.

Re: Jackson Lake Lodge and Coulter Bay lodging info

Considering that a weeks stay in one of the best rooms at Jackson Lake Lodge is much less than the sales tax on a new LT I would agree. Michelle and I have already spent a total of 4 days in one of the cottages and the rooms are quite Nice. The real value is in the environment. You get to have all of the amenities of a great hotel, yet you feel like you are in a cabin in the wild. It is not unusual to see moose right out the door of the cottages in the mornings. Sitting on the deck with the beverage of your choice, watching the sunset over the Tetons is a great way to end the day. At night it is dark and quiet. With no city lights or noise the stargazing is amazing. All of the cottages are arranged like little neighborhoods with the parking right out your front door. All of our attendees are going to be grouped together in these little communities. With no TV to watch we actually might have a chance to enjoy the company of our friends and maybe even a few "block parties" might form.

This one is going to be memorable!

Distance from Cottage to Main Lodge?

Randy

How far is it to walk from the cottages to the main lodge? Is it a fairly level walk or is it up hill?

TIA

Jack

Re: Distance from Cottage to Main Lodge?

At Jackson Lake Lodge the first group of cottages are probably 100 yards from the main lodge. Each additional group of cottages is another 100 feet further from the lodge. All of the parking and cottages are an fairly level ground with the main lodge building at about 10 feet or so higher elevation. We satayed in one of the cabins that was the furthest from the main lodge and I would guess they might have been 1000 feet from the main lodge. None of the walking is difficult.

Coulter Bay is a few miles (five or six) from Jackson Lake Lodge. We haven't spent a lot of time in that area yet, but it seemed reasonably level but is very spread out.

Chicken or beef? And where'd you get the peanut sauce?

Hey, after climbing that hill from the Breckenridge main building to building C several times a day, this sounds like a cake-walk! ...a walk in the park (so to speak)! ;-)

Not only a great location, I think we can park our LTs right outside the front door of our cottages! Better than hikin' up the hill at Breck!

That's a fact Jeff! We did just that on our trip down to Breck. Real nice knowing your ride is right outside your front door any time you need it,

Re: Jackson Lake Lodge and Coulter Bay lodging info

I'm not Randy but I can answer the question. You have to register for CCR first. You will get a confirmation number back that you have registered. You then use that confirmation number to make your reservations with either Jackson Lake Lodge or Coulter Bay depending on where you want to stay.

Welcome to the board, Stew.

Re: Jackson Lake Lodge and Coulter Bay lodging info

Thanks Steve for the quick reply. I will register and then try and reserve a room. Funny thing is, I have been looking at all types of replacements for my bar hopper chopper. I needed a bike I could take my wife on comroftable. The BMW LT just seemd to fit both of our needs. It's the first bike my wife promised I would own this year and told me to register for the CCR!!! LOL!!! She said that after viewing the Grand Teton site for the congregation of BMW riders..... "now THOSE people know HOW TO LIVE" !

So, it looks as if, even though I don't own a 1200LT yet, I soon will.....

If I can make her smil riding on the back of my BMW for a 2 day trip 1100 miles then I will be a happy man. You should have seen her on the back of my Ironhorse with a p-pad and no sissy bar....NOT a happy wife... LOL!

Another option is to have her fly (via air plane ) to Denver or surrounding airport. My So can't be on the bike that long so she flies to meet me at the CCR.

When we were at Breckenridge, the hotel had a shuttle to deliver them to and from the airport. I believe it was approx $100 round trip. I don't know if Jackson Lodge will offer this service or not. You might ask them when making your reservations.

Re: Distance from Cottage to Main Lodge?

Looking forward to making your aquaintence as well Stew! As far as the Portland area goes, we're some of the newer residents. Just moved down here from Juneau less than 2 years ago.

You're gonna love CCR! We've only managed to make 2 of them (Santa Fe & Breckenridge) but had a great time at each. Like most who have been, as soon as it is over we're planning for the next one!

John
